The Old Folks Home

Wakey Wakey eggs and bacee!

No rain here today! It's a miracle! Of course they are calling for rain again on Tuesday and off and on all week but the break will give us a chance to mow the soggy lawn which is now past ankle high thanks to the monsoon we have been having. The chickens are loving the earth worms that are coming up out of desperation not to drown in their run.

Death by drowning, death by chicken....if they only knew.

I'm hoping the ground will dry out a bit so I can chop some weeds out of the garden later. My gourmet leaf lettuce that I planted is ready to cut for the first time so fresh greens salad for dinner tonight! I just may throw in some young plantain leaves along with clover. Both are bumper crops this year. Oh and wood sorrel. YUMMMMM :love :drool

Good morning everyone.

Week before last, the youngest grand came home from pre-kinder with some type of bug. Not feeling well, and head congestion. She went to Dr. About half of her class was out with it. Remember me saying that they now have to wait 7 days before they can do much of anything, in case it's a virus? At the end of her 7 day wait, it had pushed into her chest. The Dr. prescribed some things then, and she's cleared up. In the meantime, her older sister came down with it too.

Well, she shared whatever she had. Day before yesterday morning, it hit me like gangbusters. Later that evening, it hit Dd #1. My cousin called to remind me, that we had to go pick up the sofabed yesterday. Between whatever this is, and the decongestants, etc. we have no energy. Yesterday evening, sick and having no energy, Dd #1 and I, went to get the sofa bed. All went well, but by the time we got home with it, and got it unloaded off the trailer, that took all the energy we had. Dh stayed home, and watched all the kids.

Fortunately, there were lots of leftovers in the fridge, so we heated those up, and that was supper. Right after supper, she and I went to sleep. About 2:30 am, Dh woke me up to tell me he wasn't feeling so sweet.

No, this is not Covid. The grands were tested. People did get sick before Covid. Whatever this is, it's going around. It's not pleasant.
