The Old Folks Home

i am not recommending you do.

for me its purely economics. 110lbs of premix adult chicken feed is $30. I make mine for $17

Most people aren feeding 5 stages of pig, quail chukar chicken guinea at various stages of breeding either - but by having the fish meal, I can tweak small amounts of specialized food rather than buying a 110lb sack of it

A fresh mix basic food and some fish meal and you can do what you want
Oz I am sorry if I sounded unhappy.... Honestly I do appreciate everyone's input and helpful advice! I just wanted my birds to get so great feed and be healthy and happy!
I have been paying nearly 17.00 per bag of feed at TSC. I am looking for something less expensive and better quality.

The best I do here for healthy feed it $22.5 per bag. I get it closer to $15.00 if I were to buy 40 bags.

Purina is the lowest at $16.00 per bag but it is Soy and GMO. The really good organic is closer to $35.00 per 50 pounds.

I checked the price of organic feed at any store within driving distance I found everything from $29 to $52. One was 40 for a 40 lb. bag.
After seeing what others are paying, I hate to admit it publicly, but I'm only paying $23/50 lbs. for the organic 16% grower. That and fermenting are the only reasons I can afford to switch. I'm going to up the price of my eggs to at least $4 a doz.

Thanks ya'll I guess I am going to have to up the price of my eggs and birds to help cover the cost of feed here also. I do appreciate all the help and advice every one has offered. We are still shopping. We are going to go to some more feed stores and compare the labels to get a better idea of what we can get.
