The Old Folks Home

He's in the hospital but I'm not. I was checking where to get tested for covid-19, but he became an emergency before I was able to get it accomplished. I assume I have the same virus he does, I didn't get tested then. This 90° weather made him dehydrated. Pain from dehydration can get pretty intense.
Well... keep us updated.

Make sure that you stay hydrated.

Elm burns well but is a b1tch to split. Not only stringy but spiral stringy. The best way to split it is to take pieces off the edge rather than trying to split down the middle.
Had a experience with elm once. Cut some standing dead once no clue what they were just knew standing dead is usually good seasoned wood. FIL saw the pile no bark on it and still knew what it was, said he couldn't remember if it was hard to split or just didn't burn good. He was right on both. Holy carp stringy, didn't have a splitter back then had to cut down in each chunk with the chainsaw, crosshatch it, and beat a wedge in with a monster sledgehammer to split. Didn't burn good either (maybe even though it was standing dead not seasoned still water logged) burned but water ran out of stove.

Have a couple monster huge willows by my pond. Kinda worthless wood but I get a huge tree size branch fall out of them during storms about every yr.
If you just pile it up and leave it outside rots out pretty quick. Dry it out under cover burns great but no coals, kinda like burning newspaper. Makes great bonfire wood, huge flames no smoke. Burns fiercely just doesn't last long.

Raining here again ...
Couple more of my silly screen shots lol

lovesfarms, sorry to hear you, and Dh are having to go through this. Hopefully, you'll both be much better quickly. Keep us updated.
It's the rhinovirus/ enterovirus which generally shouldn't be such a serious thing with adults. But he's been in the hospital since Friday and still keeps spiking fevers. Guess I'll go in and ask some questions today. Friday they had him on a broad spectrum antibiotics. Not sure if it's for a kidney infection(kidney stones) he's been on antibiotics 3 wks cause he was going to get some teeth pulled on Tuesday (abcess). He doesn't know what all they are treating him for. Yesterday I tried pulling some info out of them and didn't get very far. Might have to go to the desk and be more firm. The one nurse said I should be wearing a gown. He walked out the room and stuck his head back in the door laughing and said just kidding. That was weird.
