The Old Folks Home

OK, OK, twist my non-working arm, why don't ya.

It still needs to be trimmed (the dark blue layer is the last official layer), squared and bound. I have purchased the binding and will get to trimming as soon as my fingers work a little better.

This is beautiful!

I missed some good conversations today.

Pension.....don't have one but been working for the same company 29 years next month. We don't have sick days but PTO which we can use for anything, just can't make a habit of calling in sick all of the time. Required to take at least 1 full week off a year. My mom keeps asking me if I can retire yet.....if only. Retirement before 50, I don't think so.

I am eclectic. I like all kinds depending on my mood. The hardest rock I like is Van Halen. I am the odd one because I liked the band with Sammy more than with David Lee. I like alot of 70 and 80's and some current. My favorite musician is Darius Rucker - love him in Hootie and Blowfish (Cracked Rear View Mirror - favorite album ever) and as a country artist. Men at Work would be one of my favorite 80's bands. Somebody mention Nora Jones - which is a station on my Pandora. I can dig me some Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin as well. Jazz too. Oh and someone mentioned Zydeco, I like that too. See eclectic. It would e easier to list what I don't like...much shorter list.

NPR - Love Wait Wait but my favorite is Fresh Air with Terri Gross. I love to listen to the re-runs of Car Talk....those MA boys crack me up.

DH's parents were both music teachers at U of H. (Go Coogs!) and every member of his family plays an instrument and were in band at school. DH plays trombone and was in the marching band. He is a huge fan of both classical and musicals. The Music Man makes him cry. He's always whistling something from a musical when he's working outside. His cousin is on the drumline for the Seahawks.
My father played Harold Hill at least 4 times while I was growing up. I used to be able to turn any sentence into a line from a song - drove my friends crazy. For anyone familiar with current Opera singers, I graduated from high school with Renee Fleming, we were in the annual musicals and a select singing group together all through high school. We lost touch after college, but when I hear her on the radio I am thrilled for her. For most of my young life, music was a very strong influence. To this day, when the world feels as if it will cave in around me, I turn away from news and to music. I am very sentimental about it, so try to be alone while listening so as not to embarrass myself :)

I have seen Tom Jones 5 times lol

Tony Bennet too.

I grew up with Midnight Oil, Men at Work, Crowded House.

I worked with Bon Jon Jovi's sis.

BTW - 50 year anniversary of Beatles invading USA last weekend.

Ahh... Men at Work, Midnight Oil and Crowded House - three bands I grew up with. I always found Peter Garrett's story (politician to lead singer of Midnight Oil and back to politician again) fascinating. And then there is that great Australian/New Zealand collaboration, Crowded House. I remember seeing them on their farewell tour.

A couple of others from back then - INXS and Jimmy Barnes.
