Drug prices are nuts! The only thing i have tried that has helped me are the Senna pills. 2 to 3 pills a night. I buy them at the dollar tree. Much less painful than usual constipation.Today has been one for the books for me and DH.
Had to be at the dermatologists at 8:30 AM so they could remove a cyst from DH's back. Something that needed to be done for a while and finally they did it. While there he gets results from his last three biopsies they did on his head two weeks ago. One pre-cancer so it was taken care of with the biopsy. The other two, sigh, #4 and #5 for the year, Squamous cell carcinoma. They are doing MOHS again on the 23rd. These are right next to the area where they removed the 3X5 section of his scalp because another squamous cell that the VA diddled around with for years had gone subdermal and grown like crazy. I'm hoping and praying that this one hasn't done the same thing. The area under it is slightly swollen so I'm fearful for him going through another huge ordeal with the new ones they found. Meanwhile he has 10 stitches but is feeling okay.
Then on the way home I stop by the pharmacy to pick up the medicine my GI doctor started me on (samples) These pills have really helped with my IBS-C it's like FINALLY somebody hit on the magic elixir! So I pull up to the drive through and the pharmacist and one of the tech come to the window and tell me they have some bad news and some worse news. Okay...I'm braced, let me have it. A) your part D won't pay for it without a prior authorization. They want you to try Linzess first. Well I tried that first and it upset my stomach. Ok what if I pay out of pocket for the Trulance?. So the worse news....B)The Trulance that the doctor ordered for me is 427$ out of pocket. They didn't know what my out of pocket would be with my part D and wouldn't be able to find out till they got the authorization from my GIs office. So I go home and call the GI, yeah, they just had sent the authorization in to my Part D provider. I thanked them figuring that the co-pay would drop it down to at least under 100 dollars. So I call the Pharmacy. Oh, it brought it down alright. To 300$!
By this time smoke is coming out of my ears. I tell them nope, no way no how no chance was I paying that for a months' worth of little pills. That's flippin 10$ a pill. So I call the GI back and tell them what is going down. They freaked. I asked them to try Linzess that even though it upset my stomach maybe if I stuck with it it would stop.
So I wait an hour and call the pharmacy back. Well, it's better.....a bit. My co-pay would only be 207.00$ for Linzess. By now I'm fuming and digging my heels in. Call the GI's office back and tell them they got to do better than that. So the nurse sits there and goes through their preferred pharmaceutical list and finds lubiprostone it's a generic works the same so it should be cheaper. Peachy. Call the Pharmacy back yet again and they say well, this one may fit the bill. It's 200$ out of pocket so hopefully it will be under 100$ for the co-pay. They were waiting for the pre authorization to go through. I have to call them back in the morning and find out what is going on and whether or not this is going to be a doable medicine for me.
And what are you supposed to avoid with severe IBS which I do know I have? RIIIIGHHHT....STRESS!
Thought things were going to calm down then discovered that Rocki had either been rough housing with one of her brothers and got caught by a toenail behind her right front leg or got caught on a piece of fence wire because she had a one inch V cut full thickness in her hide. I trimmed the hair back and managed to get it pulled together then laid on the crazy glue. Poor baby cried, I cried.
It's just been one of those days.![]()

I have to say that I'm really impressed by how hard the nurse worked today trying to help me get things straightened out. What surprised me though is that I asked them if they had any ideal what the out of pocket cost of Trulance was and they said no. I told them. Needless to say they were stunned.
