The Old Folks Home

micro, ask the pharmacist who the manufacturer is, and call them. Oftentimes, they have their ways of getting their product out for those that need it, but can't afford it. I had to do that with my Ibrance. To get it through my pharmacy, my co-pay is over $1,500.00 a month. I called the Ibrance people. They had a plan in place, and a pharmacy that works with them, so I don't pay anything at all. They send it by Fedex each month.

While not all of the medications qualify for special type programs, many do. It's worth a phone call.

Good morning.
I told my husband that even if I just got the lubiprostone for one month that would tide me over till I have the colonoscopy on the 2nd of Dec. and I could talk to my Doc about it then and see what she can offer.
This sounds like a plan. Sorry that you are having to deal with this.

The Trulance that the doctor ordered for me is 427$ out of pocket.
That is high but still cheaper than what GoodRx came up with at ANY pharmacy near here. Same with all the other ones you listed. Good grief.

It's just been one of those days.
Sure has!! :hugs

Miralax! There's a no name brand.
OK, if that would work for Micro it would be great!
GoodRx says $18-$23 retail, as low as $12.60 with GoodRx.

I haven't called them yet, Clue but I went to their web site and they do have an 'assistance' program set up. But get this, ONLY if you have a commercial insurance then they will give you a coupon and you only have to pay 35$ for Trulance. You aren't eligible if you are on medicare, a Vet with any VA insurance, Railroad or government employee with government insurance.

Talk about feeling discriminated against. It's not a matter of NOT having the money. It's the idea of being expected to pay that much every month for a drug that they are willing to knock off over 75% of the cost if you have commercial insurance but if you are a senior citizen or hold either VA or Government insurance, then you are SOL as they say.

Yep you are right! I did the GoodRX thing and saw what they came up with.

Today is spin my wheels day. Called the pharmacy. They hadn't heard anything from the doctor yet and asked me to call them. I did. No answer and the mail box is full.

I have enough pills to last me till Monday and then I have to come up with plan B. I am using Miralax and I read where as long as I use it once a day I can double the dose on that. I can also use it and go with a mild laxative on the side. I have three days to decide.

Because the government CAN NOT dicker with the pharmaceutical companies!!!!!! It takes an Act of Congress to change that and as you all are well aware, Congress isn't exactly excited to change it.

There are claims that the companies wouldn't have the money to research and develop new drugs if the govt could dicker. So just how come is it that they can do this R&D while dickering with all the "commercial" insurance companies? Huh? Huh?

OK, talked to the nice man at the IRS. The difference between what TurboTax says I would owe if this was April 14th and what they said I owed prior to the added penalty and interest noted in the letter we got Monday is .... penalties and interest on the original underpayment to some date. So the penalty and interest in the letter is a penalty and interest for not paying money that they never told me I was short.

I guess I should be happy that they did this now rather than in a year or two.
I have signed on to their website, paid my taxes and fees and hopefully won't have to deal with them again. But I guess I better make an estimated tax payment since I was expecting them to hold back $1,000 of my (not) refund for this year's taxes.
