The Old Folks Home

I'm glad too. I have enough animals to take care of, although I did tell DH that if a stray pony showed up here I'd give it a home. His response was that if a dog or cat showed up that opinion would change.

God I hate it when he's right and I can't argue with him, LOL.

Beautiful day here for a change. Temps in the mid 50s, sunshine. I kicked all the bachelor roosters out to free range and slammed the run door closed behind them.

I spent some time getting my brooder boxes set up. Danged weather won't let me use my feed room weather so my babies will be bunking in the bathroom for a week.
Awwwwwwww, you don't want a fluffy bunny?

Remember that old Art Linkletter show "Kids do the darnedest things"? Well, I think hens and roosters have that beat.
I've been waiting on Poof Poof to settle in and start laying eggs. She's in with Shadow Captain (they both came from Alabama Silkies). I was sitting in with the 8 week olds and I notice her taking bedding out of her turned over flower pot (large) and throwing it over her back. So when I get done with the lil ones, I go check.. Nope, no egg in there.. no nothing in there! She was wearing what she could.. and the egg she laid was in the dirt! She made her own nest next to the flower pot, in the dirt!

Meanwhile.. Tiny has started to follow Gator and me everywhere.. he discovered our secret hideaway (Bedroom) where Gator and I go every afternoon to rest.. Gator sleeps, and I play games on my tablet to keep him company. (He reminds me daily what time it is too). So today Tiny followed us in, and hopped right on up with us.. He waited until Gator was snoring (about 2 minutes tops) and pecked him "Hey, you asleep"? That startled Gator but he just eyed Tiny and laid his head back down and went back to sleep.. So Tiny came over by me and watched me playing a game on the Tablet. I went out in the kitchen finally and started dinner.. Tiny was 'RIGHT THERE' and he found a small piece of fried egg on the floor.
Ummmhmmmmm, Pick it up, put it down, call me to eat, Pick it up, Put it down, here's a treat. So, I take it, and give him a treat in his bowl.. Good boy!
