The Old Folks Home

@CSolis you wouldn't have to use hardware cloth around the whole pen/cattle panels. Just put a row of one foot around the base and near the roosts so nothing can reach in and grab.

The neighbor (Young Amish Guy) asked me what could be biting off his broiler's heads and leaving the bodies and I told him raccoons....which we have an abundance of here.

Sure enough two days later he said he heard his dog raising Kaine and went out with his rifle. Sure enough, there was a big old raccoon up a tree near the grow out pen he had constructed. That was the end of the raccoon's chicken head dinners.

I think possums will do the same thing if they get a chance.
Possums prefer to pull out the intestines to eat if they can. Ugh. Such a horrible scene to see.

And they will find a way if testosterone wins out.

Yep, don't deny that I would like to have a few goats. If I could and lived closer he would be a real temptation, @CapricornFarm. A bit of snip snip work and he would be a very nice pet goat for somebody.

Almost bought a whether off of a HAM operator we know. Was going to put him to work eating wild rose bushes from the timber around the house.

So Possums tear out the innards? I knew they did something nasty.:th

Yeah, and eat eggs of course. I had one possum kill 3 of my Tolbunts one night.

The stupid power company says our power will be out from 10pm to 6 am. I have chicks on lockdown, and multiple bins of chicks inside and out. Good thing i have lots of hand warmers on hand.
I worried about that when my Fayoumi eggs went into lock down. We were supposed to have severe thunderstorms and voiced my concern to my husband.

He has R/C batteries that we can plug into my incubator. They are 2500MAH and will last about an hour to an hour and a half.

They will bring the temp on the Brinsea up to 99.5. What he suggested is using a battery back up power supply like one you get for your computers. We had one for our office computers that needs some repair work done to it but I'm hoping to get it up and running this summer some time.

He said there is also a plug in connector you can get for your car.
