3 bedroom house…we use 1 and other 2 the kids/grands slept in when visiting…which wasn’t often enough the last couple years to justify being bedrooms so I took over 1/2 of the larger one.

Wow amazing what they think a home is worth a new house ? .. Adding a new room is not that tough.

And prices are crazy if you can get one. $100,000 to add one room to the house!

Beyond crazy! It isn't like a kitchen that will require cabinets, appliances and plumbing.

I thing my folks bought the farm house a milking shed. cattle .. a working farm horses a couple jenny pigs and chickens for about that.

We paid $21,500 for our home on 11.25 acres 57 years ago. To put things in perspective the Princess was a 'stay at home mom, and I was making $4,800 base salary a year.

The house I grew up in was purchased used by my parents in 1959 for $15,500. I gather they agonized over that extra $500. It was sold for $425,000 when she died in 2003. They had added on to the house so it was not all profit. It would sell for twice that or more today.

Needless to say, I worked every hour of OT offered and also worked part time at a veterinary clinic. Life was good and became even better when I changed jobs, and the Princess reentered the work force - a story in and of itself.
