The Old Folks Home

Mornin OF's, I'm not falling (yet,) thankfully but has anyone dealt with big toe bone spurs and just lived with it instead of surgery? Docs were confusing enough that I've just lived with it for the past 10years. Last one said something like it'll just come back and might not be worth the long recovery when all I do anyway is shuffle around the homestead, not exactly running 10k's....
Yes, i had bone spurs on my heels. I wore thick insoles and they eventually went away. I also have tauri in the floor of my mouth, which is a big nuisance because every time they do xrays, it hurts to close my mouth. I have a nodule in one of the fingers on my left hand. Would love to get rid of it. Have had 2 doctors tell me to ignore it, but it seems to be growing and when i carry pails, it really bothers me.

I was about 33 when I had to go to the podiatrist about a formerly broken toe. When my oldest went from soft baby shoes, to the more substantial ones for walking, she was not always the most "graceful", for lack of a better word. One evening I was sitting in my chair, when she came running up to me, didn't stop in time, so she accidentally stomped my baby toe, turned in place to back away, and either the stomping, or turning on it, broke my baby toe. It didn't break straight across, but from tip to first knuckle, down the center. It swelled, turned black, and hurt like the dickens. I taped it to the next toe, which is what you're suppose to do. It healed fine.

After a couple years, I suddenly started having swelling, and pain. I went to the podiatrist. After some X-rays, it was determined that it was indeed inflamed, as if it were still broken, BUT it was fine. (I've had this happen before with other things. A sort of delayed reaction, or a failure of my body to communicate, and send the message that something has healed, so it suddenly gets inflamed for no good reason). The podiatrist deadened it, and pumped it full of steroids to address the inflammation. I had this done twice, and have never had any trouble since then. That's the only broken bone in my body.

My understanding is that free radicals will return to the site of previous injuries.
When they do, I put DMSO on the site. Problem solved.

I hit a really heavy piece of furniture with a toe. It was stuck in a really awkward position, so i couldn't get a shoe on. So i grabbed it and pulled away from myself to straighten it out. (Ouch!) Turns out it was a spiral fracture. Of course, they did nothing but x ray. I was afraid it was splintered.
