The Old Folks Home

Chiggers/Red Bugs are the same critter. BEFORE going into the woods, bathe in dog flea/tick shampoo, paying attention to the directions. https://www.amazon.com/SENTRY-Oatmeal-Shampoo-Hawaiian-Ginger/dp/B001VIY6GO/ref=sr_1_8?crid=16KZ03WQYYJHR&keywords=Flea+shampoo+for+dogs&qid=1691117637&s=pet-supplies&sprefix=flea+shampoo+for+dogs,pets,104&sr=1-8&th=1 With this one, repeat every 9 - 10 days. Another older preventative is Fels Naptha/Octagon soap. Get wet, lather all over lightly, DON'T rinse. After you get back from the woods, rinse it off.
Yup. We called 'em red bugs to confuse our northern cousins who didn't know what red bugs were but sure did hate chiggers. :lau

I bet we have some red bugs here as close to the FL line as we are. I have enough big oaks around me they may have some in them. They are not a home to a lot of Spanish moss like the old oak trees in deep FL. I'm not going to chance finding out. My oaks are full of mistletoe.
