ronott1, I have seen pics of BA chicks. I agree they are very cute.

ChickenCanoe, I have 2 golden comet hens in their own pen, and my BAs are my only other type chicken, so I can easily tell them apart, and am only hatching BA eggs. The comet eggs are for eating, until I get my flock of BAs up and running. I plan to put a dab of nail polish on a toenail of the chicks, so I can distinguish them by hen, and hatch date, until they get big enough to put a Bandette on. My daughters are contributing the various colors of polish.

I went into one of my favorite hardware stores today. They had recently expanded into carrying horse supplies, and my usual source is currently out of hay. I'm afraid I never got to ask about the hay - I had to get out of there, QUICK! They had cheepies!

Dozens and dozens of cute little fuzzy things, all saying, "take me home with you!!"

Whew! I made it!

Went into one of our feed stores today..and brought home a poor little silkie that was being stepped all over..here I go again, trying to help it out. The duck didn't make it a couple of weeks ago or, but this one has perked up a bit. Crossing fingers.

Wisher he got what he wanted out of us he is content now. ;-)

Get a Clue When I had my first litter puppies - all blacks - I used different colors of (dog) nail polish on each pup -one paw. It stayed on long enough for the puppies to show their personalities and be able to pick them apart.

Meanwhile I would list them by polish color and record weights each week till they were named.
