The Old Folks Home

I had to google that cake but it looks delicious. You should post a picture when you're done. I love deserts.

It was 46 degrees out for a high today and windy. BF wore shorts and a t-shirt, I wore ear muffs, a puffy winter coat and gloves. I sometimes wonder about us.

The cake was Delicious!

Half way finished with Three layers assembled.

I only frost the top. I save the Lemon Cream Cheese frosting in case someone wants to spread more on their slice

At 6 layers it is a very tall cake.

Here is the recipe:

That looks really delicious, but quite complicated. Definitely a weekend project when you want to cook a lot.

I saw online that some people do half lemon, half chocolate - have you ever done that?

There is a chocolate version. I save the chocolate for Boston Cream Pie.

For this cake, I had to go get 8" pans. I used to make it years ago, but my pans disapeared. They probably went to make mud pies or something. I found them in the fancy cake section(Wedding and etc.). It also helps that I have a convection toaster oven that I cook one of the layers in each time.

I am making the Doberge cake more often now because it take 6 eggs to make it. I have to find something to do with the extra eggs.

I guess I will jump onto the picture of ourselves band wagon:

At least I got your gender correct. :) You're not how I pictured, either. Oh well, that's part of the fun!

Boston Creme Pie? Never had one although I finally had a Boston Creme doughnut a few months ago. Not bad at all.

There are different versions of Boston Cream Pie too, but it starts with a large 9" round Vanilla cake, usually a sponge cake, split in half. The inside is filled with vanilla pastry cream. The cake is then glazed with a chocolate glaze.

Hi Ron!

You have dark hair, I pictured brown hair. Talking about color, is that a crele in color on that pretty chicken there?

Arielle..here's a couple of pictures of my blue EE I hatched from you. She is a big girl. Thinking she will get even a bit bigger..getting pink in that small comb of hers. I love this girl! Blueberry..so original, I know.

Isn't she pretty? I'm hoping for an olive egg from her, her egg was more green than blue
when she hatched.

Yes, going gray on the sides that hair...

That is an EO Marraduna Basque Cockerel. He now lives at the Rooster Rescue in Concord, CA.

Animal control caught me in Sept., so I had to give up my Roosters. Hens are legal in my City but not Roosters.

Oh my, it took me a little bit to catch up. Spent most of the day doing a project in the barn. I have been wanting to put up that sun shade material to block off the tack room rafters from the birds. They have been having a field day in the barn which I don't mind too much but I can't stand all of the bird doody on the tack room floor, the tack and on the little table I have set up in there. DS came out and helped me thank goodness. Even with his help it took us hours but it is all done now. Only had one minor incident but it made me glad we were working on it together. DS was up on the ladder and it slipped and fell. He wound up hanging by his hands from the rafters. Luckily I was able to scoot the smaller ladder under him real quick so no one got hurt. He was going to do it by himself tomorrow but I couldn't wait to get it done. Glad I was there.
