The Old Folks Home

Oh my, it took me a little bit to catch up. Spent most of the day doing a project in the barn. I have been wanting to put up that sun shade material to block off the tack room rafters from the birds. They have been having a field day in the barn which I don't mind too much but I can't stand all of the bird doody on the tack room floor, the tack and on the little table I have set up in there. DS came out and helped me thank goodness. Even with his help it took us hours but it is all done now. Only had one minor incident but it made me glad we were working on it together. DS was up on the ladder and it slipped and fell. He wound up hanging by his hands from the rafters. Luckily I was able to scoot the smaller ladder under him real quick so no one got hurt. He was going to do it by himself tomorrow but I couldn't wait to get it done. Glad I was there.

Arielle..here's a couple of pictures of my blue EE I hatched from you. She is a big girl. Thinking she will get even a bit bigger..getting pink in that small comb of hers. I love this girl! Blueberry..so original, I know.

Isn't she pretty? I'm hoping for an olive egg from her, her egg was more green than blue
when she hatched.
Blueberry certainly fits!!! Her dad is Blue Boy. A big handsome boy. He is much bigger than the hens. So very pretty. Love the blue. Egg color--anticipation drives me nutty--do let me know the color, could be bluer, or a slight green. I would be surprised if she produced an olive. I plan to put together a pen of olives this year. I love the variety in the tones of olive. Love eggs!

Ron, you had me fooled. You are much younger than I pictured. HAha-- I must spend too much time on the heritage fowl thread, it has altered my thinking! Lots of retirees over there.

One of the reasons I am not subscribed to those threads currently.

I will retire in 10 years or so.

The pictures are nice. It is great to see what others look like here.

Any more brave enough to post a picture?

Not me--I look in the mirror and wonder who is that looking back at me!! LOL I still think I am 30-something. Sheesh--the years slipped away so fast but I don't feel old, usually.

The cake was Delicious!

Half way finished with Three layers assembled.

I only frost the top. I save the Lemon Cream Cheese frosting in case someone wants to spread more on their slice

At 6 layers it is a very tall cake.

Here is the recipe:
