I'm sure they would have taken anything I offered but I thought that was fair.Chicken Canoe you are my hero to save those precious little chicks. Since they had them boxed up without your approval, I think you should have said - "sorry I thought they'd be 50 cents each since you closing them out". It's just bee - esing but, they might have gone for it.

OK, here's the dad story with breakfast at the country club.
We were on our road trip summer vacation, this time to New Orleans. My brother and oldest sister had already moved away from home so it was just my parents, myself and my sister (a few years older than I). My parents seemed to fight all the time and that, once again, delayed our departure. We left late at night and got into Arkansas in the wee hours of the morning. We were probably a couple hours into Arkansas just before sunup. Dad was driving, my sister and I were asleep in the back seat and my mom was sleeping too.
When my sister and I awoke we were parked and my dad had collected a bunch of sticks and rocks. He made a little fire circle and started a fire right next to the driver's door of the car. When it got light enough to see, he had a good fire going and bacon and eggs were frying in the pan. He was sitting on the sill plate of the driver's door making breakfast for the family.
The horror that followed became clear when it was light enough to realize that we were sitting in the parking lot of a fancy golf course club house - right in the front row.
My sister and I were mortified and we were slumped down in our seats so people couldn't see us.
By the time the eggs were done, there were caddies lined up along the front wall of the clubhouse and the parking lot was filling with golfers.
Not one person said a word to us but just stared. They must have feared disturbing this crazed person. My dad was completely unfazed and went about distributing his golf course parking lot breakfast in paper plates.
My sister and I were so glad to get back on the road.
I still can't believe it.
