The Old Folks Home

Stumpy, those Carol Burnette shows still crack me up. I especially love it when you can tell that the cast is trying not to crack up. The sceene where she comes down the staircase wearing that "dress" always has me in tears. Wish they could come up with something that funny and clean to put on TV now.
SCG still nothing on the job

I did email my "future" boss yesterday to find out if they are close to a decision. I heard nothng back. In the mean time, one of the people who could fill my position has another opportunity with another company but is waiting for word on this since he would be willing to stay with the company if they match the salary. He has to know very soon or he has to take the other job. We are being strangled by processes. This is so against what I am learning about in my management class for school.
ETA - Cynthia, love the pic of you with the grandchildren! That must have been a great day!

I understand that making each other laugh was half the fun for some of the Carol Burnett cast. In that iconic scene with the curtain rod dress, Carol had to know about it (she and the costume designer had to do fittings, of course) but Harvey didn't. Carol went to great pains to make sure that his first sight of it was on camera, and she said watching him struggle to keep it together was priceless! Tim Conway was probably the worst about it. The show was usually pre-recorded well in advance, but occasionally something would go wrong and they'd have to do something pretty much live. That was almost a guarantee that Tim would start ad-libbing something outrageous to try to crack Harvey up. Drove the rest of the production crew nuts!

I know! These days most comedians use insults, profanity, etc. which all equates to NO TALENT in my book. I love watching I Love Lucy and have hens named Lucy and Ethel. One of the wineries here has started a yearly Lucy look-alike grape-stomping contest.

Bunnylady, I agree -- it's even funnier when you see them trying so hard not to laugh. Talk about a great job to have! I remember in an interview of Carol, she said that she went over to the costume designer's workplace to view the costume he had come up with. When he brought it out, she said she literally fell on the floor laughing.

I am old enough to remember the Carol Burnette Show when it was not reruns! My favorite skits were the one with Tim Conway playing the old man and the one with him as the boss and Carol as "Mrs. A-Viggins." Those owned me and still do when I get a chance to watch. I love how the old man with the scraggly gray hair would walk slower than molasses and when he got in a hurry, his hands would swing fast but his feet moved the same speed. Good times.........

Remember when Tim Conway was in a skit where he played a veterinarian? He accidentally injected himself with a canine vaccine.

I'm one of those who didn't "get" I love Lucy or the Carroll Bernette show when the originals ran; now I love them, and crack up laughing. My fav I love Lucy is the candy making factory, when the conveyor speeds up rediculously fast and she , lucy, is stuffing her mouth with the candies. ANd The gleam in there eyes as they try not to crack up on the Carol Bernette show-- I wish they had the out takes!!! A show in itself!

Yes we need these reruns-- I don't watch much TV anymore because it is mostly trash. PBS not included in that! WHere is BIll Cosby when you need him to do a family show?
