too bad you cant get 1080 here. Sodium Fluroacetate is a great poison. When we moved onto our farm in Oz we has a summons to destroy the rabbit infestation. The pasture protection board came out and laid carrots every second day for four days. On the last day the bunnies were lining up for the 4x4 with its treats. They had an extra ingredient that killed an estimated 1.5 million rabbits in a day. Most died in their holes but the sstench was unbelievable. For those that arent aware rabbits are a non native species in Australia and almost destroyed all pasture in the whole country in the 30s. Rabbit, fox, prickley pair(nopal) cactus and blackberry are all monitored by the gudment and you are required by law to control them.
At least two deadly diseases have been released on Australia's rabbit population to try to try to curb its numbers. They had an immediate knockdown effect, but the population rebounded and now natural resistance is growing and making the diseases less effective. Sadly, I have been posting with a member who has a pet rabbit that I believe is sick with one of those diseases.

I was always told it was ASPIRIN for cats. Was I mislead? Do cats have to be starving to eat it? All the cats I have seen smell their food really well before deciding to eat or walk away.

Will the msg and Tylenol harm dogs or other wildlife? Just curious, I've never owned a cat, tho we fed a stray for a few weeks before he disappeared in the 70's. Does chocolate affect cats like it does for dogs?

We had a very small cocker with a very large appetite, especially for non-healthy foods.
We came home one day and couldn't find her in a locked house, and no answer to us calling her repeatedly. We were getting frantic when we finally found her hidden behind the sofa, drooling and smacking her lips over a box of Fannie May chocolates she had knocked off the table.(Valentine's Day).

We didn't know at the time that chocolate was poison for dogs. We just hollered at her and threw out the remainder. She had bad diarrhea that night but, otherwise no ill effects.
Later on we realized what probably saved her. My mom(and I) always ate the prime candies first. All that was left was the caramels (no good for bad teeth) which my mom always saved for ???? reason - no one ever ate them.

Fortunately for the dog, chocolate covered caramels have very little chocolate and mostly caramel. The caramel was so hard to chew the dog couldn't eat many. It was a blessing in disquise.

I'm that way too. Sometimes we've had gettogethers with Karin's friends, where the idea is that everyone cooks together. I get really annoyed at the fact that every dish (and the whole menu) is taken from some sort of magazine, and the recipe is followed with military precision. I like looking at cookbooks, and may borrow some inspiration from them, but I like to make my own recipes, and I don't follow measurements either.

I too, use cook books for starters or guidelines but I always add my personal tpuch.

i did not hit the "buy it now" button.

Down in Texas they use a propane torch, a pear burner, and burn the spines off of the prickly pear and the cattle eat them..
