"Let your wife do something?"

I do not tell the Princess what she 'can or can not' do, and she accords me the same courtesy. It's worked for 50 + years - too late to change things now.

Even if it is annoying that she got on the elevator without you.

-sigh- not so with me.

I am very much "allowed" to do only so much. :(

...

That looks like a great trip for the ladies, CC! I agree with your perspective too. Why not let her go and then you can also go off by yourself too? It's healthy to get away from your significant other for a little while! Absence makes the heart grow fonder......
We weren't married when we were young so we were set in our ways already.

...

Boy does that sound like fun! I'm glad you let your wife have a little bit of her own life. Some husbands really are super controllers and I find it repulsive.

I've heard about situations like the husband has this chicken raising hobby and the wife doesn't really like the chickens. Her friends ask her "Why do you put up with it?" Her response was a good one but its irrelevant to my point. "Why put up with it?" Who says that every single thing a spouse does has to be approved by the other spouse? That kind of high mindedness drives me up the wall.

I am very thankful that my husband "puts up with" my personal passion of choice! He sees that it brings me joy and keeps me busy. Yes, its expensive, but not overly much. His hobbies are costly too and more so than mine but he doesn't run to get food for it every other week!

I was kind of shocked the other men were such control freaks.
What's the point?

I've taken the occasional trip alone but more often than not it was just for work. The wife has taken 3 times as many trips without me, sometimes with my daughter or with both kids, sometimes with her friends. I'm much more comfortable travelling alone.
I've taken the kids on a lot of trips without her. Bahamas, Austrian Alps, Florida, Rockies, Wasatch.
I went to Sayulita, Mexico by myself for about 4 days after I had worked 12 hour days without a day off for the previous 5 months. The whole family went to Costa Rica for 2 weeks and I stayed behind the next 2 months to volunteer for the Macaws. The 3 of them stopped off in Mexico city and explored on the way home. I've been on a lot of multi day canoe trips in the Ozarks alone - paradise - and something I could probably be happy doing every day of my life.

Love, love, and love!

Beautiful chickens, Teila! That looks like a good camera, great shots! And X2 Cynthia, I love that one! Isn't it called frizzled?

Thank you!

That is my little LuLu, 7.5 month old Pekin (Bantam Cochin) Frizzle .. she is such a little character and so funny to watch ... her catch phrase is "pull ya head in" as she is constantly pulling her little head back into her frizzled feathers to the degree that you can't see which end is which, like a turtle

Wow, sure can tell the difference between the ole mobile phone images (above) and the new camera .. I'm hooked!

Frustratin' ain't it?

I was kind of shocked the other men were such control freaks.
What's the point?

Insecurity.  What else?

I agree....

To both, :)

Definitely frustrating... But not much I can do at this point.

Of course, I end up trying to sneak as much stuff as I can. I just got my new quail eggs into the house via the window. :) three dozen! They are BEAUTIFUL!!

I wanted to set them up in the incubator... But I can't right now, since I am being watched. -sigh-
