The Old Folks Home

I have been caught partially dressed by my chicken coop, and I have answered the door with a giant suction cup on my forehead....but it was only the FedEx man. He did look at me funny.

There were various bad things that I did in College... But no one can remember those, right?

I have to keep reminding Karin about us having neighbors, and underwear being preferable when she's doing the chicken chores. Bending over in her night gown is a bit exhibitionistic.

Oz, you should take a trip to Helsinki, see if the restaurants are to your liking, and then consider a nice plot of land somewhere 30 min outside the city.

In the late 1980's I was working midnight shift. I lived alone in a rural area where there should have been no casual visitors. One day, around 11:00am, there was a knock at the front door. I was sleeping in a bedroom that had a window that faced the front porch and I looked outside to find a stranger at my door. I got up, slipped on a robe, and went to the door. I guess I had bed-head and was squinting when I opened the door because he took one look at me and started backing off the porch and apologizing for disturbing me. I really didn't understand why he was leaving without telling my what he wanted, that is, until I realized I had my duty weapon in my hand at my side.

You do remember the winters.....right?

I am conflicted.

I love the rural lifestyle but crave the city.

When I am in the city, I crave the rural lifestyle.

For me personally, I need a balance of open spaces, multicultural restaurants, free ranging and live theater.

I have yet to find that place

My needs are a little more simplistic. I told DH we could live in the country, city, on a cliff, in a tree, BUT we had to be within 45 minutes of a Costco and/or Trader Joe's to be considered near civilization, which is where I'd live. Mission accomplished.... We're in the country, but close to both stores. There's some gorgeous spots in NM, but too far out in the boonies (meaning hours away) for serious consideration. Yeah, I like my creature comforts.
