The Old Folks Home

The moose needs to be matured for a few days anyway, so Alaskan has some time. Here it wouldn't be worth it to repair a freezer unless it's under warranty or your home insurance covers it. They don't build the things to last like they used to either. My parents still have a pair of Miele's that are 25 years old, still work just fine. I'm guessing the amount of power they consume is humongous though. The seals are really leaky by now, and efficiency was not a major concern in the eighties.

@Alaskan
Did you say it was newish? Should be under warranty?

Oh, and I hope your neighbor doesn't get a moose tomorrow.

nope, I think it is 5 years old, at a guess. Old enough there is no warranty, but young enough that this is very unexpected. -sigh-

And nope, he isn't hunting right now, so I should be safe definitely until Sat., maybe Monday.

yep, same here. And, for many things we only have one possible or even no possible repairmen.

There is one fridge repairman in town...so I am hoping he will help. But I remember when my in-laws needed him to fix a busted fridge, he told them that they would have to wait one week before he would be able to take care of them. They gave up, and just bought a new one.

When we were looking to buy a house, we found one that we liked, and hired an inspector to go through it.

His report?

He said that after looking at the wiring, the walls, and the structural integrity, his conclusion that if we bought it, we should offer it to the fire department as a practice burn.

Well, we really didn't have quite enough money to buy the place, and since we would be buying it and then having to spend the money to build a house......well, we passed.

LOL He thought you should BUY it and then offer it to the fire department?

Isn't it wonderful to have pots and pans all made of the same materials by the same maker, which all cook consistently with each other?

I remember the day my husband took me to the store and bought me a complete set of Le Creuset. With Le Creuset you don't have to go to the gym to lift weights.

I will let you know when I eventually cook something in them ... hubby does all the cooking as his donation to the chores. We can both cook but I am happy to let him loose in the kitchen .... we have a dishwasher for the aftermath

It is still raining, so continuing the 'tough love' plan, I stripped down to the bare essentials and donned the Dry-As-A-Bone and wandered on out to close off the corner and supervise bed time.

The youngest divider dweller, Blondie, was actually sussing out the roost and she may have jumped up there by herself but as it was raining I popped her up so I was not tramping around in the dark, soaking wet. Her hatch mother Cilla (matriarch) while not throwing a temper tantrum and throwing herself at the blocker to the corner was still hanging around in that area so I guided her over to the roost to pop her next to her daughter.

What I saw next blew me away! .. Dusty, 19 month old Bantam Langshan, has never roosted, she has always slept in the nest box closest to the divider. When I went to put Cilla on the roost, Dusty was roosting right next to Blondie! And, to top it off, rather than sleeping in a nest box, my Silkie and Frizzle were roosting on the Silkie-friendly lower roost!!

These roosts have been available for months and as mentioned, I have been moving them from the old roost to the new roost for months .... still slapping myself on the forehead for not thinking about taking away the preferred option.

This plan looks like it is actually going to work. It was so nice to not have to supervise fights and squabbles and to see everyone roosting on appropriate roosts; still all together but not squished :)
