The Old Folks Home

@ChickenCanoe Haha, that's a good one, hadn't heard that. Older Nokia phones used to auto correct "Tahdon halata sinua" (I want to hug you) to "Tahdon hakata sinua" (I want to beat you). Very romantic.

Hopefully there will be no more violence in Ferguson, at least not due to the rioting.

We actually had a very rare occurrence here in Finland three days ago, a man had stolen a car, crashed it on the motorway, and while the police where chasing him, he fired shots at them. He was later apprehended and no longer resisted, he's charged with attempted murder among other things.

@dsqard Yeah, you're probably right. People don't know how to make a first impression anymore.

CC: Didn't you say that the multi-legged chick was one that you "helped" in hatching? That's a real good example of Nature's survival of the fittest....most likely wouldn't have hatched in real life. Makes you wonder if the percentage of these rarities is higher but no one knows because the eggs didn't hatch and just got chucked.

Yakima: Love Le Crueset! I found a barely used tagine at our local consignment shop. Score! I'd like to get more, but I have a lot of money sunk into a full set of Magnalite Professional (including the rare fish poacher, turkey roaster, pans, pots, steamers, woks, griddle...you name it). The Mag has been in service for close to 30 years and hasn't much wear and tear...Definitely got my lifetime guarantee out of it!) Hard to part with; it's like comfy slippers.

Chicken Canoe in Chicago it wouldn't be wonderful, it would be a MIRACLE !!

...

You're absolutely right.
Every setting I swear I'll never help another but sometimes I think I may have been at fault. In my experience, those that need help rarely fare well. It's called breeding for vigor.

Isn't that the truth. My first time in Chicago was about 40 years ago. Some buddies and I were returning from Michigan and decided to stop and investigate some nightlife. We turned a corner and right in front of us was a huge gang fight. We put the van in reverse and drove back to St. Louis.
My daughter went to college there right downtown close to Shedd and I worried about her walking to the grocery store about 8 blocks from her apartment. She was only 17.

I just read a pretty disturbing post about dog training.

Joke of the Day [SIZE=10pt]
Subject: Fatal Mistake!
A man received the following text from his neighbor: I am so sorry Bob. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess. I have been helping myself to your wife, day and night when you're not around. In fact, more than you. I do not get it at home, but that's no excuse. I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apology with my promise that it won't ever happen again. The man who received the message, anguished and betrayed, went into his bedroom, grabbed his gun, and without a word, shot his wife and killed her. A few moments later, a second text came in: I hate this **** autospell....Sorry, I meant "wifi, not "wife" . . .

Quote function isn't working right, but along these lines... When I type "hijab" (as in "I wear hijab" or "she is a hijabi") my phone changes it to "hijack". Think I have grounds to sue? Lol.

Cynthia, it's crazy how they grow. When we had puppies, I had a chart where we wrote down their weight every day. It was quite interesting to see how quickly they put on weight. And it's amazing how quickly they learn things. We got rid of the last puppy when he was 12 weeks old, at that point he was housebroken already.

It is crazy how fast they grow, they have grown since I took these photos. I started them on mash yesterday. They took to it like they had been lapping for months.

Bama, inspired by your seafood talk, we decided to make seafood pasta today. We just came from the store, equipped with mussels, vongole, king prawns and shrimp. Mmmm.
I got up this morning and started the pizza dough. It is rising now and will deflate by the time I get home to make the pizza!

Friday pizza night!

Also, Salmon Faverolles are, IMHO one of the sweetest as well as cutest chickens, but MAN they die easily in my experience. They seem to be OK once grown, but in my experience they die more easily in the chick and not yet grown stage.

I agree, one of the sweetest bantams too..and mine made a great mama.

Ha..made a Happy Mother's Day from this one...
