Yep, growing up in Texas, you -knew- that every nook and cranny held a snake. You NEVER put your fingers where your eyes hadn't been to first.

It was kinda odd moving up to Alaska, knowing I really and truly could get the wood from the woodpile without first knocking the pile over with my boot.

Haven't tried lynx. Not bear either, but it's supposedly delicious. Just a tad expensive, if they ever sell it anywhere it goes for 200 euros per kilo.

I lived in Dallas as a kid and was trained to watch for the scorpions. They would even get in the house. Nasty sting.

Yep, that too, had to shake out shoes, all clothes, etc. they would climb up the drains, so were always in the bathtub.

Lynx are protected in Maine, but we have them. We have the nasty fishers and weasels, too. No wolverines.
