The Old Folks Home

Ahhh, never mind. I'll stick with my kombucha.

Quick, easy and CHEAP. pdirt, I did promise to send you some of my milk grains for my kefir but the batch was so puny that eventually I had to throw it out. I'll get more later but right now I'm okay with kombucha.

Yeah, it does take longer to brew. The theory is that since the sugars involved (especially the blackstrap molasses) are much more complex than white sugar (such as is commonly used in Kombucha), they take much longer to break down. And because of the increased complexity of the sugars, the theory is that you end up with a more complex microbial culture and supposedly the microbes are more robust due to enhanced nutrition. I also add kelp, wheat (or rice) bran and some rock dusts for enhanced nutrition of the microbes, but yeah, then it does start to sound complicated! One of the things I am finding I REALLY enjoy using EM for is as a marinade...there is one brew I make with blueberry and cherry juice, which I don't really care for in terms of drinking it, but boy it's a work of magic with a red meat like lamb. A really delicious and unique flavor. Like a vinegar, but lactic acid is not as harsh as the acetic acid of vinegar. It's so concentrated, it is almost like a soy sauce, but there is very little salt in the EM "marinade". I did try making Kombucha into a vinegar but didn't really care for the flavor. Anyways, I'm rambling now.

Not to worry about the kefir grains. Let me know if you do get some more and you have an excess.

BAMA are you taking the neighbor's dog shopping again? A lot of stores allow people in with "Questionable" service dogs, because they have been sued, for turning away legitimate ones. Certainly a shopper wearing DARK GLASSES, must be legit.

Quote: It's a bit out of focus too - but so is Bamadude.

There are many types of service animals; even tiny little yappy things that keep people with anxiety issues on a more even keel. I once was chatting with someone in New Mexico that had a couple of Miniature Horses for sale; my parents were visiting the Grand Canyon at about the same time. I jokingly asked my friend if we got a harness, did she think the airline would believe the horse was my mother's service animal and let her on the plane?

I'm probably a horrible person, but I think a service animal is something that genuinely provides a service. A seeing eye dog is fine. A seizure spotting dog is fine. But I think the dog needs to be trained to perform this task - a yappy chihuahua in a handbag can't be a service dog in my opinion. If you're allowed to take your service animal to a grocery store, it needs to be working at the time, and if the dog is barking while it's working it hasn't been trained properly, and should not have been released to the person who it's supposed to be aiding. Of course, a drug or explosives sniffing dog or a police dog might be trained to bark in certain situations, but that's working too.

None of that sounded like the opinion of a horrible person, but perhaps I am a horrible person too..... Naaah :)
I'm not sure but I think miniature houses can be service animals... Pigs too.
