Well, the game camera revealed that the chicken carcass was taken by..............

my dog.

He is a large lab and I am surprised he didn't get his head stuck in the trap. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.......

It is so great to know what happened rather than surmise.

I figured it was something big enough to keep part of its body outside the trap.

Mm, fish and chips is tasty. I don't have a big enough pot to do it properly at home, and I haven't found any places that would serve a nice serving of it around here, so I just have to make do with fish fingers and fries.

for what its worth you can do it in a frying pan.... I fry fish and chicken all the time in just a plain ole frying pan. With fish you do have to flip them over....

Also when I do chicken its just for the browning part... I finish the fried chicken off in the oven....

My issue with deep frying is the amount of oil you have to heat up to do the deed.... Its then pretty much only useful for deep frying or you have to toss it out. Though Having a fry baby might be worth it.... Once its cooled off all you have to do is pop on an airtight lid to the oil chamber.

Oh and there is a Fry Daddy too.

I tried the sticky mousetrap thing in my flower beds hoping to keep the cats & squirrels out. I knew it wouldn't hurt them but, might annoy them enough to make me feel better. Didn't get anything because they(one or the other) kicked dirt over most of the traps. I should have one of those sprinkler systems that turn on when something gets too close to targeted area. But, the water bill would probably go sky high. I think it would only take one time though with a cat, they are more finicky than squirrels& nowhere near as clever.
