The Old Folks Home

I use an outdoor propane burner and a 4 gallon (256 decilitre but who cares about metric) pot with peanut oil. I dip the fish in beaten eggs with a splash of beer. Then bread them in a 1:1 mix of cornmeal and panko breadcrumbs.

bama, 4 gallons would be 15.1 liters or 151 deciliters.

But that sounds like a good way to do it. Peanut oil just costs way too much to use in that kind of amounts, it would be at least 100 euros to fill that with store prices.

We get great deals one peanut oil here in November for our thanks giving holiday. I often stock up for myself.

Deep frying turkeys is popular but it takes a lot of oil.

By the way, what vegetable oils do you usually use over there? Here it's mainly rapeseed, turnip rape, olive or sunflower.

Corn oil is very popular.... I like the neutral taste for most things.... But for flavor I use a good olive oil...

Crisco is a good deep fry fat.... it is Solid at room temperature. Makes great bisquits too.

Lard.... Oy sooo good. But I dont buy it. I do use bacon grease for alot of things.

For what its worth If you are in the middle of a batch of oatmeal cookies and realize you dont have any butter.... Skip the salt and use bacon grease instead of butter..... OH MY GAWD..... they taste different but in a very very good way.
