THis mock orange, or Bois d' arc, sounds like it is in the cedar family; the color and the repulsiveness to insects.

Turns out it is a member of the mulberry family. Looking at the structure of the tree and the leaf shape, I can see that. Apparently it may be as effective in repelling some insects - and I'm going to bet a heck of a lot less toxic.

Normally I would toss these but they are early season eggs.

Arielle..I just pick off the poop! I have found that my poopy eggs usually do better. Honest to goodness! I have no idea why. When I see a poopy egg that has been shipped, I usually think, bet I see this one hatch. Yep. I just get the extra chunky stuff off. Nice picture in the brain for ya.
