The Old Folks Home

Just zipping thru the last billion pages, I cannot keep up with your guys. Did notice Ronott said something about using nutella in the traps. Heck if he does the first thing he will catch is ME.

I do have chocolate in a rat zapper.... I wonder what I will catch.

Thanks for the laugh this morning!

I really like the way you have it anchored.... excellent...

I normally rolled a whole bale of alfafa into the goat pen and left it on the wagon. no snapping of strings either.... Oh yeh they wasted a bunch but it lasted my four goats almost two weeks before I had to put another in.

the new coop will have a partition for the goats... And a feeder made of a strip of cattle panel so they can eat the hay through the panel.

Glad you like it. We had tried a whole bunch of feeders and basically I'd come back into the house sad that they hay I'd just put out there was strewn all over the floor, and not eaten. BF came up with this and installed it.

Got to go out later and install the candyboards on the beehives for our long winter. Yesterday I managed to get all the fallen branches cut up and stacked into our woodpile from last weekend's storm. We're ready for the next storm, I guess.

Hi Wisher,

Good on you. My chikens and rooster are my pets, they do help me relax, since I had them my blood pressure has gone back to normal and I am happier person. My family also doesn't get it, they all have their own enjoyment from various entertainments, sports etc. Chikens are my hobby.
Enjoy them, your health comes first, if you are happy then family will be happy too.
All the best and don't feel guilty, I am sure you do get to do all things you need to for your family

I am deb. BYC has a bunch of Aussies.... a few threads as well... @ozexpat may pop in now and then too.

It doesnt matter if the family doesnt get it I have one family member that just doesnt understand and she came from a very rural life.... Right now I live in town with her to help her out.... but my home is in the high desert about 60 miles or about 97 kilometers away. no chickens right now for me.... At one point I had about fifty total but predators got them. so I will wait till I move back. When my grandma was genuinely puzzled and asked me.... What do you do out there... I simply said... same stuff you do... watch TV read books cook dinner but I also enjoy the birds and the goats and the horse and caring for them.... All she said was.... sounds like a lot of work.
