The Old Folks Home

Wisher I am with you. I wouldn't have minded taking him in, it is just the way that "they" (whoever they is) just dropped him off. I think I have figured out which one is "not Joe". Last night when I was putting them back in the pen, Joe knew exactly what was going on (I bring a bucket of treats out when it is time for them to go in the pen and they all run after me and into the pen) and went right in. Not Joe ran back and forth outside the pen for a minute or so before he "remembered" where the gate is. I think I have to speak to my other neighbor about his dog though. He (the dog) was over on our property yesterday. I am pretty sure he bowled one of the turkey hens over on her back and she couldn't get up. She was OK but I am worried that next time he won't just be playing and I am going to lose a turkey. I have brought the dog home a few times and the neighbor has come over to get him a few times. Come on folks, I know we live in the country but that doesn't mean that you get to let your dogs run loose. I try to be tolerant because he is a nice neighbor but this is getting dangerous for my birds. If I spot Trooper on the property again, I am going to put him on a leash, take him home, and have a chat with them.

Only 250 lbs. that's a big hurt if they stomp on your feet.

It will feel like a peanut after living around horses!!!

Sorry abut your hen; glad she wasn't seriously hurt.

Here we are allowed to let our farm dogs run loose but we are responsible for any damage they do. My dogs stay home--large fenced in yard for them. Oher people use that shock collar and underground barrier. Maybe suggest some methods of restraint in that chat.

I couldn't resist a little puppy cuteness today!

Cute!
I am puppy-sitting this weekend for someone who wants to sell this puppy, and today we need to decide whether to keep her. She's about 4 pounds and so much fun.

How can anyone resist that face?!

I know! She is so delightful. I've wanted a little "lap baby" for years, but DH had said he didn't want to get another dog until he retired. We lost our standard poodle in July (his "baby") and are dealing with another ailing, elderly poodle also.

now this would be my Mom after you found us, kids....

"Hey, are you missing some kids?" Mom said, "No, I don't miss them one bit!" She had decided we were too much for her and just dropped us off at my house. She said I wasn't home and she didn't think I would mind so she just left them. She added that if I didn't want us, she would come down and shoot us while I was at work.

On the other side of the coin..
We got a little snow last night, as always, I let the chickens out. Only the kids ran out in it and then ran back in, then walked out slowly, testing this new stuff. Well as all young kids or teens of all of life, they decided they liked it and are now or were running in it, pecking at it and climbing the snowy logs. The older ones being smarter have all stayed inside or on the non snowy parts... I do love how awesome everything looks after a snow fall. We don't get much at all so any we get is always welcomed...
