Thanks Chicki It is and I try to go with what i think it best or what I crave. I am eating lots of veggies and little meat but my weakness is pasta. About 3 times a month I can't help it I have to have some! I love it! It should not effect me at that rate but it does. ???? The only way I am going to lose this extra 40 lbs I have put on from all this is to get sick again! I want to be a size 5 or 7 again!
Did you switch to whole wheat\whole grain pasta?

Getting something that takes longer to digest will help--along with the extra fiber.

Atkins is not really hard core if you do it right, do it according to the book. Many people don't do it correctly, they cut out everything but meat and that is unhealthy. The simplified explanation is that yes, your body needs carbs to process protein, if you don't take in enough carbs to process the protein you consume, your body uses it's stored carbs (fat) to process the protein. It works, if you do it according to the book. Once you lose the weight you want, you start adding back in the complex carbs until you find the level that your body needs, but not so much that there is enough to store as fat. It was easy to lose weight when I was young, now, not so much. Atkins is a diet that I can stick to, not cheat on, and lose weight (although more slowly than when I was younger.) I could eat two fried eggs, bacon, and coffee for breakfast - a large grilled chicken breast and small salad (with boiled eggs, ham, cheese, spinach, lettuce, cucumber, and homemade ranch dressing made from sour cream and herbs) for lunch - and a grilled steak for supper with mashed cauliflower and green beans for supper. Snacks are nuts, pork rinds, jerky, etc. You give up bread, milk, sweets, starches, and alcohol, all of which you don't really require (I started to say 'need' but I know some would argue that

) You have to take vitamin supplements for vitamin C, potassium, and a couple of others, but most people should be taking vitamins to supplement their diet anyway. The thing I missed the most was fruit, but once the weight was lost, I added back berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, tomatoes, etc.) and some citrus on occasion. If I needed to cheat like a dinner party or other special occasion, I could, but just went back to the weight loss phase for a week or two afterward. It is easier to stay on it because the carbs cause carb cravings which are not there when you are not eating them. I was NEVER hungry on Atkins, that was a problem because I would forget to eat, which actually kept me from losing weight because my metabolism would be sluggish and reluctant to burn stored fat. I am not on it now, because I am weak, but I need to be, and hope to start it back as soon as holiday cooking is done.

At almost 400 pounds I got nothing for diet.... Been on em all from Airforce to injections. Just raising up to a standing position takes alot of work. Imagine carrying a 100 lb back pack every where you go.

Low carb makes me feel better. physically my arthritis pain diminishes. My best success was with Weight watchers and when I had the ability to walk. Weight Watchers had a low carb plan as well. But i am so jaded I am hesitant to try.... Every time I try and fail I balloon up more. Loose ten gain twenty Loose twenty gain forty on and on.

MY first mistake was going on a diet in the first place back when I was twenty ish. Yep I Thought I was fat in this picture

I was about twenty three here... and 135 pounds...

When I did Atkins from the book I bought the Keto sticks. The key to Atkins is to attain Ketosis and maintain it... the litmus strips let you know if you were on track.... Great tool.
