The Old Folks Home

Sam, sunset was just after 15 (that's 3pm) today. In the northenmost parts of Finland they won't see a sunrise for a few months. In the summer, they do get a day that lasts almost two months too, so it balances out.

I brought my friend a couple of silkie pullets (I hope) back from the Dixie Nationals. The only other thing I brought was a couple of eggs that were laid at the show. One is a Rhodes' Silver Campine and the other is from a Cuckoo Marans. I'm going to incubate them and see what I get.

Gas prices are down to $2.15 a gallon here now. 1.99 with a carwash.

It's down to 28 this morning. With a little wind we might dry out a bit as the temperature approaches 50 today.

yep our regular gas is down to 2.99 or thereabouts.... Take 45 cents per gallon off for Calfiornia gas tax. and it would be around 2.54 a gallon. Diesel is running close to regular right now I need to get my truck topped off

The lowest we've seen here in Utah is 2.78. Hope it keeps going down. Wouldn't it be great if we could get back down to 2? Wishful thinking...hoping.

I really like your set up that is very nice CC. Thanks for sharing the pics of your water barrel I just showed my DH and he likes the idea we could do that and only need two barrels. Thank you so much.

It sure looks like Christmas at your place. :)
Honey, I can't even imagine that much snow. It's 60 something today and a low of 42. I know it's a pain to shovel all that stuff but it sure is pretty.

Five bucks per gallon is what it should be in my opinion. That would put US car manufacturing on the right track. My view is wildly unpopular though.

I spoke with a hotel receptionist once, he told me they had had a couple of US tourists, who were commenting on how ridiculously small all the cars here are. He told them to take a look at the price sign on the gas station near by the next time they're returning to the hotel. When they came back they really liked cars with small engines.

Cars also cost quite a lot here. For comparison, a Ford Mondeo (similar to the Fusion on that side of the pond) starts at 29000 euros (over 35000 dollars) with a 115hp 1.6 liter diesel engine. The cheapest gas version is over 30k euros.
