What is Chicken Math?

Someone explain that to me..please?

The best explanation I can give of chicken math: When after an adult poultry keeping hiatus, I decided I needed a source of manure for my garden after the nearby stable closed.
I built a large coop and thought I'd get 6 pullets. I brought home 10. In 3 months I had 100 chickens.

Voila!!!! Chicken math.

It's just when you want a certain number and all of a sudden, you have more.

. . . . But you also find astonishingly creative ways to lie to yourself and anyone else about just how many you have.

So it's the chickens themselves who spread it, eh?

Well, I know for a certainty that there are at least two too many birds in that coop at the moment. Sure, five of them are only a day old, so it's no problem yet, but come spring I'm going to have to get the numbers down. Best case scenario I've got four pullets and a roo among the chicks, and I can just get rid of the pair of Sussexes I dislike. But chances are there are at least two or three roos there...

This is going to be another fine example of chicken math. We all know he's going to expand his coop!

The coop is fine, it's the run that's the issue. But due to the way I've built it, I don't see a good way of expanding it. At least not in a way that would look good. But six or seven layers is pretty optimal for us. Not much of an market for eggs, so we'd get more than enough eggs with that amount. Or there would be a market, but setting up sales would be a bit complicated. Maybe I'll set something up in the summer if we're experiencing an overabundence.
