I have no idea what the purpose of those red plugs are...maybe decorations that block oxygen
I used one of the red plug spots to put a thermometer in. There is a thread with tricks to hatching in the LG and it was very helpful. I had a hard time keeping the temperature steady as it tended to drift. The room it is in needs to have a steady temperature as well as the thing dose t have enough mass to hold heat steady. I had a 30 percent hatch

Yup. I just "installed" the milk jug top adjuster. Do you have the fan kit?

I sold the fan ones, but am borrowing one with a fan now..lol..just for the HAL. I'm not hatching nearly as much as I used to. Just wanted to do this HAL, then will do the Easter one..I prefer the still air.

SCG, I'm with Bamadude on tossing the plug. It's not about the humidity, it's about the oxygen. Raising the humidity is not hard, keeping enough oxygen in there for the chicks is much more important. Make sure the lower vents are not blocked, as well.

X's 2!

Jem, I have totally missed how your hatch is going, how have the temps been holding in your 'bator, and how far along are you? Lockdown already with that kind of humidity?

not a wiggle not a cheep nada so far, temps rock solid 99.5 and humdity is 69% and holding steady everyone was wiggling and lively night before, marked the last air cell line X'd the spot it dipped there are like two larger eggs they are very wiggily and one that well it looks smushed and not much room but wggily..and it's been locked down since this afternoon...........I figure if I miss a wiggle lol the thermometer will wiggle off the top of the eggs lol

Why do you prefer the still air? I might be the inheritee of yet another one of these LG incubators (will find out tomorrow if it's still available) so I can use it for a hatcher. I've got the sucker at 97.3 this morning on the bottom, middle. Not too shabby. I woke up a couple times during the night and adjusted (which I am apparently much better at stumbling around tired than I am wide awake). The guide I found suggests 96 degrees on the floor during winter when using the egg turner. http://urbanext.illinois.edu/eggs/res19-opincubator.html
