I have some very confused ducks.

After taking our friends to the houses this morning we took them to Hussey's General Store. Their motto: If we ain't got it, you don't need it. It's a pretty true motto - 3 floors of everything you could need.

Including...



My friends were not that impressed. I think they felt like they stumbled across the mecca for rednecks.

I wasn't sure about the behavior because we had a hawk attack right before that happened, too, and I wasn't sure if anyone got hurt. The turkey might have been attacked and just fearful, but if that's proper egg laying behavior... I'll find out soon.

And my ducks got a bit amorous with each other (yay, spring) and one of the makes is really limping badly. I have a severe female deficiency around here, and the other drakes think he's pretty... to put it nicely. He got injured and now I've got him separated from the others but it's so sad - the other ducks are sleeping outside his enclosure. But if I let him out... it won't be as peaceful.

I've had that situation around here before. I agree, when you have a "bachelor flock" of drakes, it gets really ugly when one becomes a "designated hen."

But every time I look at that sign with guns, wedding gowns, and cold beer, I imagine a shotgun wedding and toasting the happy couple - yep, redneck country for sure!

That's really funny, looking at the sign. Guns, Wedding Gowns, Cold Beer. What more could you want.
