The Old Folks Home

Well, someone woke up this AM to a nice dry, slight breezey day and forgot he is not that young buck stud of old. Been outside all day working in the yards, hauling down tree branches, cleaning coops, repairing part of the tin roof that the winds damaged and just being busy all day long.
Got alot done but so much more to do to get ready for Spring. Even made a fast trip to Southern States to pick up some stuff, visited the biddies, talked to the owner about selling him some of my spare Roos, and did not get any. So that was a break, yay~!!~!! Well now it has caught up with me. ****!!! I just want to sit in my comfy chair and die...

But as My dear departed Mom use to say. "there is no rest for the wicked".

Tomorrow is another day. I just hope the person who wakes up tomorrow is smarter than the one today....

On a side note...
It did feel good to get a full day in outside......

Has today been a better day-- did you wake up smarter ?

My boys' youth group at church were having a retreat this weekend. They started with a 36 hour fast, and built houses out of cardboard to feel what it is like to be homeless. They spent the night in their houses and then went door to door collecting food for the homeless shelter. At 6:00pm, they broke fast with a huge meal at the church. I went to collect sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and three tired boys. My youngest opened the back of the van and then came around to the front seat where I was waiting. With a level stare he asked, "Momma........why is there a chicken in the back of the car?"

Good news and bad news........

Good news is -- I have a broody to help with the hatch!
Bad news -- She nested in the luggage area in the back of the van.

Not feeling great today. Headed for bed soon. Geez and not even after midnight!

This is what I set for the Easter hatch. I swear i miscounted way to many times. They say the mind goes first!

Oh and as for the Tickster!!!!

My husband's line was "I can do exactly the same things now I could do at 20! Just not as fast!"
LOVE IT ! ( hehe) and the eggs too . . . .

Having seen Sarge my MW Tom attempt the deed with an actual turkey hen (not my cross-legged knee), I can see why turkey girls are so calmly submissive.

And I'm glad he's a MW, because he stood on the back of Edna, one of my BBB hens, treading for quite some time. He even just STOOD there for a while - almost as if he forgot what he was there for - before really working to get his tail into the correct position. She adjusted her tail, he leaned back, maybe they connected, and then he fell of.

No two seconds of wing dance foreplay and three seconds of mounting like chickens.

Turkey hens gotta be patient, apparently.

Unless Sarge is just an idiot.

Only if normal turkeys are idiots.

On the rare occassion I catch the tom in the act-- he is ungainly, awkward, and down right slllllooooowwww.

The mountains behind our house this morning. The light was just fantastic

Less than 60 days and I will see this!!!

And I'm not sure I'm going to be able to keep my project secret for another few days or so until it has been completed and everything is in its place (I'm sure going to try) but I do believe it is epic and will be thoroughly enjoyed once unveiled.

Sheesh. The minute I saw how nice it was, The young stud came into being. So much to do and so little time til Spring.
I tried to slow down, really I did. The younger me just said, no time for a heart attack and if you try to get one, I will just drag your butt over to the watering hole and let you fall into it. So, once again, I worked like I was young, strong and so very dumb.
I think tonight, (who am I kidding as soon as I relax, finish this cup of coffee, it's on) I will just soak in the tub for once and I hate tubs. Why wash yourself in your own dirt after you get in. I guess a shower afterwards will be called for. Hot soak, warm shower to get all the watered dirt off me. Then hopefully a warn dinner for me then comfy chair.... If not, I will cook something easy, then comfy chair.... I do this each year and yet, I survive. I guess the missus always telling me, I can't die til the list is done or she will bring me back and beat me, just keeps me going. Plus, laughs, that is how I roll.....
All or nothing.....

all = life
nothing = death

Hoping everyone had a great, not so busy weekend.
