The Old Folks Home

Of the TJ's eggs set I got a 75% hatch rate. Of those that went into lockdown it was a 90% hatch rate. This was the best hatch rate to date. The eggs were super fresh (3 days off the packing date) and the shells and air cells were superb in composition and structure. Most of the eggs did hatch on Day 22, though.

Haven't had any red leakage on the TJ's that feathered out. They're white with a soft dove gray feather here and there. Definitely leghorn in structure, though.

Chickadoodles - Lockdown today?

SCG - keep us posted and don't forget those chick pix!

I dunno, folks. Something twisted about food that crawls on your plate while you eat it. Just a survival thingie, but I'd be afraid of fight or flight mode it might actually seek a hail mary revenge. Like my stuff good and dead so I can eat in peace.

I am pretty sure shell fish have to be cooked.... and if it were trying to crawl off the plate it must have been Octopus...?

Still no pips this morning.

:fl I hope you see some when you get home from work today.

I have no place to put one but does someone here sell Emu eggs? Or Emu babies? What are Emu babies called? (Chickens = Chicks, ducks = ducklings, geese/goose = goslings.)

According to what I can find online, they are either called chicks or hatchlings.

SCG, how many out of how many went into lockdown?

DK, how's it looking in your incubator? You should be getting some pips too.

From the LG 15 went in, 10 went into lockdown (67%). From the Brinsea, 25 went in, 17 went into lockdown (68%). They are now into both LGs into batches - about half from LG and the other half from Brinsea incubation. They are still marked which is which so I should be able to continue to correlate results with incubation techniques. I am such a nerd.

Emulings! Actually I think they're just called chicks.
