The Old Folks Home

All good advice, SCG, but the thing that has helped me more than anything is putting paper towels on the likely poop collection areas. On the ledge that the wire sits on (small strips,) on the bottom between the vent holes, and I line the troughs of the tray where the water goes. I also put one paper towel over the wire, in a diamond shape so that poop collects on it but air can still circulate. You need to experiment because it greatly affects your humidity. It's okay for me to have lots, because I use them as hatchers.

I was thinking about spraying it with Pam!

We got one of those fancy front loading washer/dryer units about a year ago. It started leaking almost immediately.

The repair man has been back no less than 5 times, the last time today, to tell me he can't for the life of him figure out what's wrong with it.

At least he got to see the chicks. He's been here so much he asked after the goats and was happy that he finally got to see the house paint job done and the chicks hatched.

the new dishwasher we bought gives me fits....

it is all this 'energy efficient' cr#p! which translates to it takes 12 billion hours to do a load of dishes.... which means we always have a sink full of dishes until we take the time to force kids to hand wash them.

Talking of... don't get me started on light bulbs!

SO expensive, and while SOME of the expensive ones last a long time, others burn out after a month, but cost me an arm and a leg to replace.

I was happy when I saw halogen light bulbs for sale, since they were less than the poisonous florescent ones..... I put them in the lights by the front door, and one burnt out in LESS than a month!!!

If I am going to get less than a month of use, I want my 25 cent light bulbs!

@chickadoodles the big chicks are very happy... They where over duo for a larger home. Who would miss having 9 mini chickens in there house... Me

That's great they are happy. I know I have some that are abt. 3 months old and they are in my large brooder and are needing more room. But I am afraid to move them to a pen with all these cold fronts coming through. They are going thru their teenage molt and have a heat light in their brooder. lol

I always miss mine when they go outside. :/

@drumstick diva - What a pain! I'm not a fan of new stuff either - not because I'm afraid of something being wrong with it, but because it means I have to learn a whole new way of doing something that I've been doing for ages.

Oh Bunnylady I', so with you. I'm trying to use newer versions of windows and dang it is like learning Greek!!! I liked my 2003 version just fine. 14 years or as you said: "doing it for ages" Knew everything it could do. So lost with the newest versions . .
