The Old Folks Home

Well my eggs finally hatched

group shot

The flock they came from had 1NN,1 partridge cochin and 1 banty(sebright?)roo over matching hens.Chix1 came from a cochin hen and matches pictures for a purebred but chix 2 is different case.Chix2 came from a banty (probably a sebright) any ideas as to who daddy might be?

I've got eggs hatching right now. I have a NN too. Also, one of the silkie eggs is a NN..so..showgirl? Black and white, I think, waiting for it to dry and fluff. These are for a friend. So, I may or may not keep one or two..the rest go back to her. :) My NN is the same color as yours. Mama is a RIR, and dad is a red NN. Cute babies, I love chipmunks. :)

Gryeyes, if we had any inkling of leaving doors open we'd be overrun with bugs. I would have to install chicken doors for that.

I've posted a thread for the Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Hatchathon. I'll be setting turkey eggs and chicken eggs. Woohoo!

Well, I have an actual pet door - electronic - so only collar-wearing pets can use it. One of my friends has suggested I put a collars on Beth and Punkin. We started discussing how I could fit 'em on 'em. Not gonna do it. The whole idea is to keep poultry and critters out of the house!

The pet door is known to many flock members. Geese, a couple ducks, Carl, several hens, oh, and even Domino the third in command roo have walked up the ramp and looked in through the clear lexan panel. At least once, somebody has tried to follow a dog or the cat through it, but it closes immediately behind the "authorized" users' butts.

I am starting to twitch about the Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch. I don't need more turkeys. I don't.

Are Royal Palms long-lived or are they the fast-growing FrankenTurkeys? How about Blue Slate? Or... Never mind.

Linda, all heritage turkeys are "long lived" ... what you need are a few penciled palms like these...

or some Narragansetts like these...

Text your financial advisor and have him send you a few!!!

Yay! And thank you!

My head feels worse today, although now that I've had a shower and removed about 300 lbs of snot from my right sinus, feeling slightly better than when I woke up.

No idea why it's only on the right side, but at least I have a nostril that's not infarcted to breathe through!

We're going to get 10-14 inches of snow today.

I'm so excited about this, I can hardly tell you guys. I mean, it's not like we didn't get 4 feet of snow in the month of February, alone. I haven't shoveled in at least two weeks, and most of the snow on the ground is gone thanks to a couple warmish days we had last week. I can certainly see how we needed to add another foot of snow to that. God forbid we see daffodils before May up here.

Two minutes ago my surprise checked into Salt Lake City....Are you ready?

SCG who is coming to Utah? Although today I can totally understand why you would want to be in SLC instead of Bangor. No snow here today (thank goodness!) Birdguy, you don't happen to have any of those penciled palm eggs do you? I was looking at those just yesterday on Porter's. Pretty birds and they only get to around 18lbs for the toms. Just the right size.
