I am becoming more aware just how much chickens communicate with each other. Little tattle-tales!

The semi-house chickens Beth and Punkin either lay their eggs before I get up or they come back inside to do so; Beth's nest is in the clean ...well... Clean under the towel I placed over the clean linen basket, and Punkin lays in the dog bed in which neither of the dogs sleep. Then both girls trot themselves back outside until dark.

I have a very nice covered kitty litter box in the office/incubation/guest room for them. Doe they lay there? No. But Alice my Silver Sebright does. She is NOT a house chicken. She started coming inside after Belinda BR fooled me into thinking she was Beth when SHE came in and stated laying her eggs behind the working incubator on the table above Sparkle's brooder bin where she is raising four chicks. Sparkle is the only full-time house chicken, but she spent three weeks incubating the flock eggs I gave her. Chicks hatched a week ago...

Then Carl my dominant roo sauntered inside to check things out. Now he's escorting different hens into the house!

They come in through the door from the deck and FENCED garden. (Alice flies, and can slip through the deck railing.) I keep that door slightly open diring the day for Sparkle to go outside for her dust bathing and whatnot. So far, five different hens have come inside for a look-see. Belinda is insistent and has squozed through the railings to get on the deck, and then inside the house. . Carl can't fit through 'em so he must be flying up to the railing ... It's just quite startling to see that big rooster saunter into the living room, look at me, crow, then go back outside. I have to escort him through the garden gate.

Belinda, Alice, Paprika, Sylvia, and GreyGirl. I bet they're telling others....

Carl must be "escorting" these girls to the best penthouse he's ever seen. He must think he's one lucky guy to have found the upscale accommodations.

The flock they came from had 1NN,1 partridge cochin and 1 banty(sebright?)roo over matching hens.Chix1 came from a cochin hen and matches pictures for a purebred but chix 2 is different case.Chix2 came from a banty (probably a sebright) any ideas as to who daddy might be?

I have a sinus infection but only on the right side of my face. The left side feels great. My right eye is runny, my sinus is clogged, my ear is clogged... I look and feel like two-face. I'm going to take some stimulants (pseudoephedrine)!!


Anyway, the regularly scheduled teasing re: the surprise is back on. Should be within the next 30 hours for the big reveal. I may have made a substitution on the order.

Oh no, I feel your pain. Those don't feel good..do they work into a sore throat..then cough like mine do? Misery.
