THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT. A WIND CHILL ADVISORY HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED. THIS WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST MONDAY. THE BLIZZARD WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

We didn't get that much, really. Couple inches, maybe. Have to shovel a couple areas due to drifting, but I won't do that until tomorrow. No reason really to do it with windchills significantly below zero and the blowing that will continue into tomorrow. It can wait until tomorrow.

CC, I might be able to find some earth worms in the compost bin if I dig to the bottom, but there are not many insects up and about this time of the year here. The freezer is stocked with meat for the dogs though, so that's a less effort demanding source of protein.

Diva, I might try the tuna a bit later if this doesn't seem to be up to her standards. But as long as she's eating this, it's a good start.

One of my Christmas presents was a ball cap with little headlights on it, it makes evening chores so much easier. A couple of nights ago I walked out to the coop to do a head count and lock up the run. I was looking down at my feet because I have a tendency to trip over everything...there was a light rain, at the time and there were what seemed like hundreds of huge fat earthworms racing ahead of me trying to stay out of my light. It was wicked.

Yeah, as long as it's cold it stays light. But if it warms up, do it quickly. Wet snow isn't fun to shovel. But I probably don't need to tell you that.

Tnspurs, that sounds like it looked pretty cool.

Virpi seems to be a bit more alert, and is eating a bit every once in a while. She seemed a lot feistier now when I grabbed her compared to earlier, so that's good.

Also started our first plants, some Chili seeds Sam sent me. The wait for spring begins.

To the right is the sprouting system we threw together yesterday. I don't really keep the plant light on yet, but I turned it on for dramatic effect. The light is actually purple.

Update #79

Virpi just pooped. Smells awful, but looks pretty okay. I take it as a good sign, things are going in, things are coming out. She's also eating without encouragement. She's also a lot more relaxed.
