The Old Folks Home

-22F for us here this morning. That was cold. My car complained, loudly, for most of the trip in to work. And we're getting another couple inches of snow tonight.

Oz - for bumbles -
1. Soak foot in hot water +/- epsom salts
2. Scrub with chlorhexidine 4%
3. Get scab off - pick off or use scalpel/razor blade/etc
4. Rinse with saline or hydrogen peroxide
5. Pack with triple antibiotic ointment
6. Cover with gauze with TAO on it, then vet wrap.
7. Repeat daily until the swelling is noticeably reduced, then switch to every 48 hours, then 72 as needed.

We have bumblefoot issues pretty frequently around here. If you get the temperature just right in the biddy bath they tend to really enjoy it.

I think he is giving you the stink eye for taking a pic of him looking silly...

@chickadoodles I irrigated it with saline and covered it with neosporin (not the pain relieving kind). I'm leaving him uncovered longer now as the duration of the head shaking seems to be lessening. He's really behaving well and I've discovered that I can put him to sleep just by rubbing the back of his head. He's back in his box and covered for now. He ate some more scrambled eggs and a little bit of banana. He's also been very thirsty so I give him water frequently. He doesn't seem to have a fever now, at least I don't think he does...his comb isn't as warm as it was last night.

Aren't you supposed to pluck the feathers before cooking?
Bama is barney and oz is ted without a doubt.
