That is a great set up SCG! I wish I had a place like that for a broody. Maybe I can get DH to think up something. :)

Glad you like it. Not sure what your nest boxes are, but you could likely come up with something to stuff the hole and keep her in there.

Once the chicks hatch we move her to the small broody box in the coop. That protects them from the others yet allows them to see each other:

We've got one clutch of eggs, and again two broodies at the moment, so I don't need to worry about the cooling down. Instead, we're a bit low on eggs. Just the one layer working at the moment. I really need those eggs to hatch out some more girls, the four roos from the previous batch are only going to contribute to dinner once.

Our bunny pen is coming along nicely, we put up the frame this morning and did some more painting.

This thing became a bit bigger than planned again... it's going to have a total floor space of a bit over 80 square feet in two levels.
Very neat job

Poor DS#1 had all four wisdom teeth out today.  He is hurting pretty bad and I am off work to look after him.  I am actually enjoying taking care of my 6' tall "baby."

The broody hen hatched four of the eight eggs I gave her.  Three were bright yellow and one was dark.  The dark one was found in the nest dead with a compound fracture of the leg.  I don't know if she stepped on it or killed it on purpose.  I took one egg that had pipped and helped it hatch in the house and left the other three in the nest with her.  I will pull them tomorrow and let her take care of the three....if she will.  If I see that she won't, they will go in with the 32 that hatched yesterday and today.  Cute little buggers............
