I am finally off to the philippines tonight

we are have unseasonal weather also.

A cat 4 typhoon was due to make landfall on Sat not long after I arrive. Now its been downgraded to a cat 3 and has slowed down enough to get me into Manila and out safely.

I keep thinking solar powered desalination plants, but if that were really an affordable option, the middle east would be a lot greener, and a lot more peaceful.

even with solar water desalinization is extremely expensive.... Remember when that Tsunami hit Tailand?

people wondered why we sent an aircraft carrier as part of the recovery process. Aircraft carriers have nuclear powered desalinization plants. They can produce 200,000 gallons of fresh water per day

One human needs one Gallon of fresh water for drinking and sanitation per day...


I dont think anyone is going to build a neuclear powered desalinization plant on shore in California.

Deb, yup, it does take a lot of power.

I just did the math, we use about 36 gallons per person per day, but the animals are included in that, so the personal use is a bit lower. The 50eur per month includes sewage as well. The thing that would cut down the consumption for us would be to put in a manual switch for the circulator pump upstairs. Right now it can be controlled from the heat room, or by a timer, but we don't shower at regular enough times for the timer to be useful. So if I could put in a manual switch for the circulator pump, I could circulate the water in the pipes about five minutes before I need hot water. As the setup works right now the water sits in 100 feet of pipes between the taps and the tank, so you need to run the water for over a minute before you get hot water. I think I could cut down our use by up to 25% with the manual switch.

You mean Decomp.....

I had Norway rats in my last house.... Warfarin took them out.... and I had to live with that smell till it disapated.....
