The Old Folks Home

Has anyone seen Bunny Lady lately? I PMed her and no reply. My mind is so goofed up, I am not even sure OFH is where she usually posts. I looked back at many pages and couldn't find her there.

I thought of someone to ask - nevermind.

Her last post was on the coffee thread 1day and 22 hours ago.

At 48 hours we can file a missing person complaint?

The entire ofh lol

Every ad I get when I'm on my phone, and on OFH has to do with old folks homes, buncha senior citizens you'd think! Lol! Doesn't happen on the other threads.

My grandma was cool as crap when she got super old, she watched her brother die in a old folks home and all his life's savings dwindle, he invested in stocks many years ago, IBM gave him a good retirement. He lost most of it when he got put into a home because he couldn't take care of himself and wouldn't let anyone help.
Anyway I saw grandma with a awesome brand new car, she always drove old crappy station wagons, I said WOW gramma, your 'stylin, sportin new wheels huh?' She says "Yup, spent the kids inheritance, don't none of them sons a b****'s deserve it anyways!" Gram was awesome. She never went into a home, and no one ever took care of her, heck she worked up to the week she went to the hospital and died at 89.
She woke up in the hospital and asked 'what am I doing here', one of my aunts started explaining to her what happened like she was a invalid, she hollered at her 'I know that, why ain't I dead yet!' My other aunt says 'because your to darn stubborn!'
I miss her.

SCG how are your eggs doing?

I plan to check and candle this evening. The Octagon is actually having a bit of difficult time keeping temperature regulated this time of year. I usually hatch in winter, when unless we lose power or let the stove run out, the temperature doesn't much move. It is easier for it without the day to day fluctuations we've had lately. 66 yesterday, snowing today.

SCG when do you usually have spring?

Varies from year to year, but I can tell you I usually start my early seeds (onions, celery, heads of greens) the first or second weekend in March and the rest about a month to 6 weeks later depending on what they are. As soon as the ground thaws out they can get transplanted outdoors. However, I haven't started them this year because I still have 2 feet of snow in the garden (it might be a foot in a half after yesterday but still way too much) not to mention 3 feet in front of the hoop house still and CHICKENS IN MY BASEMENT. The rest of the open lawn has about 8 inches in most places after yesterday. The ground won't be thawing any time soon. Plants usually go in the ground memorial day weekend or earlier if you want to protect them a couple times over night. Our frost free date is officially June 1st.

The coast guard just went up the Kennebec to break the ice up so we don't have ice jams and flooding. It's about 2 weeks later than usual amid heavy ice and snow pack.
