The Old Folks Home

Gee I hope you have a fire extinguisher near by,

you are either braver or more foolish than I am. Electricity scares me. I notice the plants tops are right by the tubes, does that damage the leaves?

It's about an inch from the leaves, maybe a bit less. That bulb is nice, because it pretty much uses all of the electricity to produce light, it's not cool to the touch, but I have no problem holding it.

child #1 was very very bad......

like he totally forgot some super basic "how we want to live our life as functional human beings"

or maybe he accidentally decided to follow a

"how to turn into a -censored word- and then end up in jail" book

HOW this can be my child....

that I talk to ALL OF THE TIME about right and wrong and WHY to choose path A over path B.....

and this is outside of the normal, idiot teenage stuff.....

I'm sorry to hear this but it sounds like you're doing the right thing and handling it.

We've gotten about 2.5 inches of snow so far. It's so pretty with everything coated in freshly fallen snow.

Vehve, you should absolutely get a showgirl. She's fabulous. She requires a human pick her up (in the correct way) and carry her highness off to the coop and place her on her roosting spot. If you put her on the wrong spot, she will jump down, chew you out and demand the entire process be repeated, but correctly this time. She is quite the Chicken Diva. And don't be late.

Al, hope everything turns out well.

Diva, I only use these for starting plants, and we have pretty much the same temperature throughout the house, so I don't really need the added heat. I do keep the seedlings on heat mat for the first week or two though.

SCG, then that simply won't do. Älize the dachshund would not allow any more high maintenance creatures.

Oh no!!! I just walked out the door to open up the coop....and found out I had failed to lock up one of the chicken tractors last night!!!

Well, I called for the 2 birds....and they came around the corner of the house. Phew...we both got lucky this time. What with foxes, and neighbor hood dogs.

Puddin I love your babies they are just so cute and their mommas are just beautiful! I hope they will be ok with the other hens. I was to scared I separated mine last year I did not want to chance it I gave my hen 4 Sweetgrass turkey eggs I got from Arielle and I wanted those turkey so bad.
Thank you. Today will be their first day on the ground with the flock close by. We are supposed to get rain so they will all be stuck together.
Im married to a 105lb Miss Piggy.
Wait - Miss Piggy. - 105 lb. That doesn't compute. :idunno. I can only assume the name is due to her Queen like nature.
@Puddin Fluff make sure the mamas don't roost up top without the babies. SUPER cute chicks! :love
Thanks! Tucked everyone in last night and the mamas were locked down in a low nest box. No peeping to be heard. They are do in great so far.
