The Old Folks Home

The thing to remember is that the credit card companies have quite extensive security systems. For instance, when ordering online, if the shipping and billing addresses don't match, it will probably automatically raise a flag and be checked manually. Also, if you've never bought anything outside the state you live in, and there's suddenly a charge from half way across the world, that will trigger a flag. One way to get money out, is to make fraudulent charges where the item sold isn't actually being sold, and the "seller" is in on the scam, but that kind of sites are usually caught quite quickly too. So for the most part, you should still be pretty safe.

Got my debit card grabbed in January by somebody in the UK who was tryinging to use it to purchase online game time. Got away with the first one $75, (late Friday pm) but the next time that night he tried my credit union security automatically locked my card. I had spotted it Saturday morning and sent an email to their tech support and was in a panic until I could talk to a live body on Monday. Told I had to come in and sign an "official" paper saying it wasn't me but that they "already knew". When I went in and met with someone to get things streightened out, I got the definite feeling I wasn't the only one because I kept explaining how careful I am online, etc. and she just kept saying "you did nothing wrong, it's not your fault" with a look in her eyes like she was trying to say without saying, that it was theirs. Talked to someone later who had their daughter's debit card attacked at about the same time so somewhere Visa or the CU must have had their debit card system compromised. Anyway, they issued me a new card right away, the money was back in my account by the next day and have had no problem since. I am really going to hate it if we move to an area where our CU doesn't have an office. Much better than dealing with some huge corporation.

We were getting the IRS one last year to settle back taxes owed, wife hung up on them every time, she knew we didn't owe anything.
Just this week we got a new one not from the 'IRS' asking for our bank account # so they could verify our account...? Huh, nope click...
Whenever we start getting these usually we get a notice in our local newspaper warning of it. I feel sorry for those who fall prey.
I think us old...er folks, get more and more of these, as we get .. old...er. Serious! We didn't used to get them. Now all of a sudden we get the most strange phone calls, and not just from the IRS. They must be getting some people to fall for it. So sad. Makes me angry don't ya know?!

Thanks guys. After 15 mins being on its up to temp. I have 2 brinsea spot checks inside. They are both reading exactly 100f along with the digital readout. Im feeling pretty confident.
I have exactly enough time for a test hatch before my shipped eggs are sent. I ordered ladycat's wheaten Marans, chickat's isbars and cream legbars, and chicken picken's cream legbars. I pretty stoked
