The Old Folks Home

I've had enough snow this winter for the next couple years.

Unfortunately it's only 5 months til winter, again.

Dad always said he likes it 95 in the shade (he works outside everyday), I don't! Now that I'm becoming 'older' and realize what he also says is true "we only get two months of summer" I'm starting to agree with him.

The thing about heat is, you can only get to naked, and your still sweating... With it cool, you can always add another layer of clothes and be warm(er) again. I'll take cool over heat any day and I'm at my best right around 65-70 degrees. That's t-shirt weather. When it gets above 85, I start getting miserable. Was born and raised in New England, and have lived in the deep south. If I could afford to have a house in both places, I'd be a snow bird for sure! Maine for the summer and fall, gulf coast someplace for the winter and spring.

But its best to keep your clothes on in order to keep cool... you just have to choose the right clothes.

I am very happy living in the desert... but with all extreme climates you make life style changes. Like laying low during the hot part of the day... and doing chores that require muscle in the early morning or late afternoon.

And if you live in a remote area you can do brush hogging at midnight as long as you have a goood flood light....

and then no one would care if you wore a speedo or not... ehem

deb "feeling better finally"

Good to hear you're feeling better, Deb.

X's 2!

I am finally getting better..have had "the" cough, for three weeks now. At least it isn't the non stop cough now. I do cough off and on all day, but not like I was doing. Almost went to the hospital, DH was ready to take me, but I stayed home. Really didn't think there was anything they could do, but watch me cough. I can't take that cough medicine they like to give you, with the codeine in it. Nope. Just glad it's getting better. Whew.

Coughing can be helped in the hospital.... I know. They use the same treatment as with people who have asthma. It helps you get that junk out of your lungs so it doesnt keep re infecting you.

I get a cold then it turns in to a bit of bronchitis... and you cough.... those restricted airways are perfect breeding grounds for a secondary infection the more you cough the more irritated they become....

So go to the doc... if your cough doesnt disappate in a week or so. They can treat it and give you strategies for getting rid of it.

It's good to hear from you. I had not seen you one here in a while. Congratulations on becoming a grandma again! The babies are so much fun to play with and love on.
Getting slower is part of the aging process but we don't have to like it. I hope you get settled in soon.

I slipped and fell last weekend and fractured my hip so not going anywhere fast here either. lol
