I see the weather chart pictures if I reply to the post. It is best to use the image insert tool. You do need to save the image to your computer first though.

I slipped and fell last weekend and fractured my hip so not going anywhere fast here either. lol
...
I am hobbling on a cane and DH is doing all the chores for now. Pain killers and helping. I have crutches but they hurt. It was very scary. But at least it is not broke. Thank goodness!

And it isn't even winter/icy anymore! Ummmm I may be mistaken as I'm not a doctor, but a fracture IS a break...

I'm really sorry to hear about your fall...

Sometimes they heal themselves over time but my impression is that's not too common (healing properly) due to age. The older we get, the longer healing takes, and movement slows the process even further. I'm glad the pain meds are helping, and hope it all works out without needing surgery.

Mind if I sit a spell with y'all? Nice to talk with folks who are around my own age.

Chicadoodle! Take care of that hip! Doing what the doctor tells you to do now will save you trouble in the future.

I took a tumble two years ago on the 4th of July (pups knocked me down) and broke a rib or two so I can well sympathize with what you are going through pain wise. It's one of those instances where narcotics are your friend.

So I used to say when people asked me how old I was that I was somewhere between menopause and social security.

Found out yesterday that my SS starts in September.

So now what do I tell people when they ask me how old I am?

Vehve, what breed of chickens are those chicks? Striking color pattern on them.

Thanks vehve, Latestarter and microchick. I am not doing much just laying down or sitting is an ordeal. I just can't let anything keep me down to long. I have turkey and hens to tend come Monday. I have sold off most of my extra's and someone is coming to get all my new poults the first of the week. So it will be easy on me.
Latestarter I will have to heal with out to much effort, I am not going thru surgery. I don't have any kids around to help out and we have our farm to run.
vehve your chicks are so cute.

Microchick I hope your ribs healed up nicely for you and congrats on your SS!

Our chicks are growing... They'll be four weeks on Monday.
Remind us again the breed? They look great!

Welcome! Pull up a chair and a cup of coffee and join in. Tell people you are only as old as you feel, so pick a number for the day!

It took a good 8 to 10 weeks for them to heal and yes! Getting up and down was a new experience in pain every time I tried to get in and out of bed. Very painful. Like you, it's just DH and I to run our farm and it happened at the worst time imaginable-summer- when we are super busy.

We retired in January of 2014 and had been commuting between our home in MO and our business in western IL for years so we had our business and our second home to shut down and had to move everything west. Once again it was just DH and I as all of our friends are as old as we are and in worse physical shape. We have one couple who bless them, fed us every time we were there. I remember when moving was easy. This has been sheer torture. We just keep moving slower and slower and it takes us days to recover every time we make a trip there and back. Finally we were forced to slow down because the stress brought my Lyme out of remission and my neuritis flared up. We finally got the house emptied out and we hope sold but it took a year for us to get it to that point where we could even put it on the market. We are still working on the office project.

People keep asking us how we like retirement and they cannot understand when I laugh and say 'What's THAT?'

Starting my flock this spring has been one of my retirement goals however and we are really enjoying watching them grow from chicks to chickens.

I seem to be just as busy or busier when I am not working. Glad you are getting your retirement started! What kind of birds do you have?

We have 8 Buff Orps and 4 Welsummers. They are 6 weeks old this weekend. I was hoping for 10 hens and 2 roos but I think the chickens have different plans.

Yes, I think I am busier now than I was before retirement, also. There is just so much to do. There are boxes still to be unpacked and sorted not to mention at least one more load of equipment to be hauled west from our business and dispersed. In the mean time I'm trying to plant a garden, plant flowers, keep the house clean, take care of the chickens and by 6 pm all I want to do is sit on the sofa and stare at the TV.

Who was it who said too bad youth is wasted on the young? That person deserves a medal.

Puddin Fluff people used to ask me how old I was and I would counter with how old do I look? They would usually guess a number 5-10 years younger than I am so I would say, "yeah, I can live with that number!" Guess I'll have to go back to that again should anybody ask.
