People of a certain age, I hope you are getting Bone density scans as needed. Medicare will cover it once every 2 years. After menopause bone loss accelerates especially in the first 5 years after.

I was on Fosamax for 11 years but, it didn't do much for me despite the fact that I worked out with free weights, walked a lot, took calcium etc. per doctor instructions. Then I read a few articles that said you should only be on Fosamax 5 years because it was never tested for long term results. In some cases it was causing severe issues with the jaw bones.

I told my doctor I wanted to stop it - he was not happy with my decision but, reminded me I could always start it up again. I have not. My mom had untreated osteoporosis, & very bad fracture of her spine (fell on ice and refused to go to hospital)

my dad had it but, doctors didn't notice or treat him till his late 80's - he died at 90, so it really didn't help. My sister has osteoporosis and has had to try a few different treatments,
because she couldn't tolerate them. She is on some drug that requires infusion but, I can't recall the name.

Dexa scans for bone density are painless and don't take long. Even young folks can have osteoporosis, especially if they drink a lot more soda that milk. Even though I love ice cream - it is a very poor source of calcium as is cottage cheese (the only dairy my mom would eat)

Thanks for all the helpful info Diva. I have not read up it at all really. I am having a hard time trying to find a family Dr. here. There is one in a near by town but they have canceled on me twice saying he had to go out of town. So DH said we will find another one. Right now I am getting a cortisone shot and Meloxicam. So I know I need a better Dr. I did have a density scan a few months ago. Thanks

totally good question...

I always pick cucumbers that are special and have only female flowers, and need no pollination.

For Tomatoes and Peppers I go through every day and shake all of the plants.

Good grief! Y'all make me feel like a picture of health and I have everything from nontypical RA to Lyme Disease.

Hope everyone with soft bones is taking vitamin D3. As we age we don't utilize it as well as we do when we are young and you need D to absorb calcium.

Hate to hear of anyone having any kind of stones. OUCH! Is all I can say. Good vibes and prayers for your wife, Ron.

Bees.....good question. I need to figure out how to draw them in to my orchard and work my fruit trees.
