But my gosh those kits were cute... erm... I mean delicious looking. They're starting to sniff around a bit, I think in a few days they'll be trying some solid food. We left some close to the entrance. And I'm adding Progut yeast to the bunny feed to ward off diarrhea.

Adorable bunnies. I just couldn't eat them if I had to slaughter them. I have done it before but not something I enjoy. As long as I can buy already prepared cleaned meat from someone else, I would rather do that. I don't like the mess or the task, per se.

Our neighbor brought us some rabbits already cleaned and we cut them up quickly before the children saw them and then just didn't tell them what was for dinner.

I don' think either one of them would have eaten it otherwise.

I think the pet factor disappears once you get the fur/feathers off. And knowing from the get go that they're meant to be food also helps. But we'll see how it goes in about three months.

I agree that you don't name your food. I could do it, but wouldn't like it.

I would rather just enjoy the cute fluffiness.

I don't mind naming the food, makes referring to them easier. Although, out of the 4 cockerels we've got waiting for processing right now, only one has a name.

My daughter did rabbits for 4H. Her dad butchered them. He was the only one who who eat them.
