Both cake pans or regular pots will work/ You really don't need alot of soil for some herbs....The Mint works well i both. I had some old tin cake pans I used til they rusted out. Cracked casserole pans work even better, esp since you shouldn't cook with them anymore....Yes, I want to make some tea from some of this mint. I will have to look at some of my pans. See if there are any that I can give up. Why is it that you always go for your older pans when you have newer pans in there that you can use. Is it because I want to save my new pans..they look so nice don't ya know, or, is it because I know I can get more use out of them..ha, haven't decided which it is yet. But pans, do sound like a great way to go, and I won't have to worry about looking for the older ones over the new ones. Silly, I know. Now, when you say shallow, are you talking cake/casserole pans? It seems like those would work.
Chooks, have you written anything about growing plants for poultry? You are doing what I would like to do and I would love to read more on HOW to get started and what plants to use. I have never heard about Malabar Spinach, but just ordered some seeds to plant. I want to plant in cages for the birds also, especially vines. What variety of grapes grows well here in Ks? So many questions... You plant the sunflowers inside the wire cages? How does that work?Anyone else plant Malabar spinach up their fencing for the birds? This year, I've ordered a lot of extra to plant it heavily. Sunflowers, too- that's going to go in 1" hardware cloth cages to protect the roots.
I put in 6 more grape vines to help shade, as well. That's my favorite, so far- training the grapes to cover and protect the run while shading and providing treats!
Actually ducky, at our house DH cooks and cleans up after because I have my animal chores. I have to say I consider myself pretty lucky.isn't the rule if I cook, you do the dishes and vice versa? Maybe you can come to that agreement and the birds will sing, and the rainbows will appear, and the stars will shine...
Has anyone seen if the edition of Chicken magazine with my articles in it isoutyet? they don't have it at our Tractor Supply. I need a copy, for crying out loud!
